Transcript – Setting Goals:

Hi, this is Ron Beshear, and today Ron takes on setting goals. I’ve been amazed in some of my recent communication with how few people have written goals. So it’s not just about setting goals, it’s about writing those goals down.

In my twenties, I was coached that if I wanted to be personally and professionally successful, I needed to set goals and I needed to write those down. The individual convinced me that something happens when you write something down that Providence moves with you. As a 68 year old, I would say that I have seen it happen over and over again in my life.

So what goals am I talking about? Well, there’s personal goals and there are professional goals. Most of the time, people focus on their professional goals, what’s happening in their career. I would submit to you that personal goals are equally important, that they need a good balance.

Happy people seem to have a good balance in those. So these would be family goals, they would be financial goals, they would be career goals, they would be fitness goals. They, for me, at one point, they were certainly, how can I be a great husband, a good father, and a good son to my parents?
