Transcript: Your Circle of Influence

Hi, this is Ron Beshear, and today, Ron takes on your circle of influence. One of the most powerful things I’ve learned in the last 50 years is about your circle of influence and working at it, developing it, fostering it, and knowing that it’s gonna add a lot of richness to your life. Let me tell you what I mean by that.

We actually talk about this in our Career With a Purpose seminar, and you can find the information on our website. What I’ve learned is almost all of your good contacts in life come from belonging, where other people belong, serving where they serve, giving where they give, or having fun where they have fun. It could be belonging to some kind of organization or club, serving people who are less fortunate, giving of your time to a worthy cause, or where we can have some fun. It might be golf, it might be tennis, it might even be walking in a charitable run. But when you look at where you’ve been involved in the past, where you are involved presently, and where you might want to be involved in the future, that gives you a whole tally of individuals and organizations that give, give you contacts with people that can help you develop your future as well as mutually help them. I’ve said to many people, there are three great introductions in life. Those three introductions are, who introduces you to your faith, your mate, and your calling. In other words, your purpose or your career.

I would add to that, who introduces you to other things that have added tremendous value and richness to your life? So my encouragement today is take an inventory of where you give, where you serve, where you have fun, you know where you’re connected, where you belong relative to your career, and see who you might want to go deeper with.
